In 150 years, the only remaining dry land after the Catastrophe is a single island, home to an enlightened society. Built on the principles of Commune and Harmony, and governed by an absolute democracy, these people have broken free from the old ways. Within a self-sufficient community founded on equality, everyone works toward the prosperity of All.

A virus sweeps through the fields, destroying more than a quarter of the harvest and triggering a severe food shortage. A question is then put to the community at large:

“To keep our civilisation alive, can we randomly annihilate a quarter of our population?”

The notion—the idea—once planted, plunges this rigid society into chaos, as some struggle to uphold the standards of the community while others fight against it on moral grounds.
